Heir to the Madrid, an icon since 1963, the Madrid Big Buckle reinterprets the single-strap sandal with an elegant oversized buckle. The anatomical cork-and-latex footbed follows the natural shape of the foot and distributes weight evenly, for all-day support. The single strap is adjustable via the large pin buckle, allowing a precise fit. The fit is narrow: if in doubt between two sizes, consider the half size, taking foot width into account.

Materials and Construction

The upper is made of fine nubuck leather, obtained by gently buffing the grain side: soft to the touch, sturdy and able to develop a unique patina over time. Birkenstock uses leather 2.8-3.2 mm thick. The cork-and-latex footbed is lined with suede where it meets the foot, while the lightweight EVA sole ensures flexibility and cushioning. The metal oversized pin buckle completes the design with a sophisticated detail.
